Century's French Exhchange - 10/12/2010

From the 27th September - 10th December, Century Plastics have had a new addition to our team; Guillaume Delange. Aged 20, Guillaume is studying Computer Programming at college in Arras, France and wanted some experience in a business to get a broader outlook on the way an industry like ours works. His father buys his products from our parent company PALRAM and owns a company in France which sells PVC door panels.

Guillaume has worked in all fields of our company; internal and external sales, accounts, distribution and in the warehouse. I asked Guillaume a few questions about his time here at Century Plastics:

1)Have you enjoyed your time at Century Plastics?

Yes! Of course! Everybody is nice here and I have learnt a lot.

2)What area was your favourite area to work in? (Sales/warehouse/accounts/logistics).

Probably when I was an external representative. I got to meet with clients and it was interesting to be on the road. I also liked working in the office because of the friendly atmosphere.

3)What did you find hardest about working at Century Plastics?

Before I came to England, my English wasn’t very good, so I think the language difference has been the hardest thing to get used to. I feel as though my English has improved slightly now.

4) What have you learnt from working here? Have you gained any skills that you can use back at home?

Working as a team is very important. I have discovered different areas are as important as others in a company.

5) What do you think about the staff? Have they been helpful/friendly towards you?

Yes! They have been very helpful. They have listened, helped me when needed, and explained things to me. If I made a mistake, everybody was patient and helped me see where I went wrong.

6) Have you enjoyed living in England?

Yes. It isn’t that different from France. It is only really the food that is not the same but it has been strange living by myself.

Any other comments?

I would like to say thank you to everybody at Century Plastics and if I ever come to Sheffield again I will come in and say hello!
